There are two engine options on the 2020 Toyota Highlander.
The 3.5-liter engine produces 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid models produce an impressive 243 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The Highlander Gas L, LE and XLE models have a Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD system that can distribute up to 50 percent of its power to the rear wheels, as well as Drive Mode Select.
With the proper configurations, the 2020 Highlander can become the perfect off-roading SUV. Between Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD and Multi-Terrain Select control with Mud & Sand and Rock & Dirt drive modes, the Highlander can brave many different terrains.
The Toyota Highlander has very competitive towing abilities. Gas models can tow a maximum of 5,000 lbs., while hybrid models have the ability to tow up to 3,000 lbs.
